Acumatica ERP became Sprinterra’s backbone, helping the company gain remote access and seamlessly manage operations during the pandemic lockdowns and the challenges of the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Improved Project Management: Project managers had to manually update Actual vs Planned budget data in Excel at the end of each month. This is done automatically now, freeing up about 16 hours per month for project managers to concentrate on other revenue-generating activities.

Before Acumatica, Sprinterra used at least two project management apps and Excel for accounting and finance needs. Eventually, spreadsheets reached their limit in terms of flexibility and technical functions to accommodate Sprinterra’s complex financial and legal structure, which includes multiple groups of accounts receivable and payable for its employees, contractors, and vendors in the US and overseas. Additionally, Excel does not provide real-time monitoring and tracking of planned vs. actual budgets and expenses. While generating balance sheets and revenue statements wasn’t an issue, obtaining deeper data and insights into the company’s financials was problematic.
Using multiple systems made it challenging to get real-time project status updates, forecast project profitability, and calculate project expenses. Project managers had to enter large amounts of sensitive data manually. With a project-based management reporting system, Sprinterra struggled to find an ERP system that could meet its financial process and calculation requirements.
Due to Sprinterra’s unique organizational structure with employees and contractors worldwide, the accounts payable and receivable system required combining different calculation algorithms to ensure appropriate cost allocation within the logic of project-based accounting. Each employee payout depends on multiple factors, including billable hours (imported from Jira), specific project difficulty levels, vacation and sick days, additional compensation for business and work-related expenses, and more. Managing this complex task required hiring an additional accountant to perform all calculations manually, compile financial reports, and share them with the C-Level suite.
To address the company’s intricate needs, Sprinterra’s team evaluated several ERP options and determined that Acumatica was the best solution due to its easy-to-use, intuitive, cloud-based system with unlimited user access. Acumatica ERP was also selected because it offered versatile out-of-the-box functionality, hosting flexibility, and framework customization.
Thanks to the ability to customize Acumatica to each customer’ unique requirements, Sprinterra developers designed and deployed custom Payroll and Project Management Reporting add-ons.
